MONTREAL - For the 25th time in their storied careers, Serena and Venus Williams will have to pretend the woman across the net is just another rival to be conquered.
Venus Williams finalized a first-ever Rogers Cup duel against sister Serena by defeating Spain's Carla Suarez Navarro 4-6, 6-2, 6-3 in the quarterfinals on Friday.
Serena Williams did her part earlier in the day in the first quarterfinal, rebounding from one set down to beat Denmark's Caroline Wozniacki 4-6, 7-5, 7-5.
Venus joked that she plans to play dirty well before they take the court on semifinal Saturday.
"I'm going to break her rackets," Venus said.
"We use the same rackets so maybe she'll just take mine," she added. "I think we're both happy. It's been a few times this year that one of us lost, or both of us lost, and we didn't meet each other and so the good part is, there'll be a Williams in the final."
