Bouchard 'the future face of tennis,' says Serena Williams

Serena Williams, the world's top player and top seed at the Rogers Cup, could have bristled when asked question after question about Canadian sensation Eugenie Bouchard.

Instead, she echoed what nearly everyone has been saying about the tour's newest star and media darling.

"I think Genie is a great player," Williams told reporters at her first news conference since landing in Montreal to defend her Rogers Cup title.

"I think she for sure is the future face of tennis."

Williams could have been excused for reminding reporters that she's up 17-0 to Bouchard in Grand Slam titles and that she won their only career matchup, last year in Cincinnati.

Instead, the 32-year-old was complimentary when asked about the 2013 WTA newcomer of the year, who advanced to the Wimbledon final last month and has dazzled with her charisma and good looks off the court.
