Eugenie Bouchard suffered a first-round upset loss Tuesday at the Topshelf Open in ‘s-Hertogenbosch, Netherlands.

The 20-year-old from Westmount, Que., bowed out 2-6, 6-3, 6-3 to American Vania King.

Bouchard is 13th in the WTA rankings and was the tournament’s third seed. King is ranked No. 75 and was unseeded.

Next up for the Canadian is Wimbledon, which begins June 23.

On the men’s side at the Topshelf Open, Vasek Pospisil of Vernon, B.C., will face Germany’s Jan-Lennard Struff in a second-round matchup Wednesday.
