Aleksandra Wozniak came close to pulling off a significant upset at the Aegon Classic Thursday in Birmingham, England.

But in the end, the three-set loss to Kirsten Flipkens of Belgium was just another near miss for the Canadian.

Wozniak rolled over Flipkens in the first set before the fourth seed turned her game around and secured the 1-6, 7-5, 6-4 win to earn a berth in the quarterfinals against unseeded Barbora Zahlavova Strycova of the Czech Republic.

Against Flipkens, Wozniak converted six of an incredible 20 break point opportunities while winning 61% of her first-serve points. Flipkens ripped off eight aces but also made seven double faults.
