Canadian tennis star Eugenie Bouchard rolled into the Nuremberg Cup semifinals Thursday after a close contest against Yaroslava Shvedova of Kazakhstan.

The 20-year-old from Westmount, Que., needed just over two hours to complete the 7-6 (3), 7-6 (6) win en route to her third semifinal appearance of the season.

Very little separated the two combatants. Bouchard won 98 total points against 91 for Shvedova.

Bouchard, who entered the tournament as the No. 2 seed, will attempt to advance to the second WTA final of her career Friday against Karin Knapp of Italy.
