TORONTO -- Serena Williams has relationship issues.

With herself.

The former world No. 1 and 12-time Grand Slam champion has been forced to deal with injuries that left her unable to play for nearly a year. First it was a foot problem. Then, after she had surgery to correct that, a pulmonary embolism and hematoma almost ended her life.

At 29 years old, it's possible her body is starting to break down.

A breakdown? No, Williams says, but a breakup might be the best thing for her.

"It's like my body is basically my boyfriend and it keeps letting me down sometimes, keeps cheating on me," she said, drawing chuckles from those attending the official draw for the Rogers Cup. "It's definitely a hard situation.

"I want to leave him, I know I should leave him, but I love him so we're going to try to work it out."
