Kvitova routs Petkovic for Brisbane title
By Sports Network

Brisbane, Australia - Czech Petra Kvitova eased to a two-set victory over German Andrea Petkovic in Saturday's final at the WTA's season-opening Brisbane International tennis event.

Kvitova needed a little more than 70 minutes to beat Petkovic in the unseeded matchup, 6-1, 6-3. A big difference was break points -- Kvitova saved 4-of-5, while Petkovic saved only 1-of-6. Petkovic also double-faulted five times and won 44 percent of first serve points.

The 20-year-old Kvitova, a surprise Wimbledon semifinalist last year, picked up her second career title. The 34th-ranked lefthander titled in Hobart and was a runner-up in Linz in 2009.

Petkovic, 23, sought a second title. She had won the two most recent matchups with Kvitova, but dropped the first two -- both of which were on hard surfaces like Brisbane.

Kvitova collected $37,000 for the win in this Australian Open tuneup.
