Sporting legend Martina Navratilova raised $15,000 for charity on Wednesday by interrupting an auction to offer up personal tennis lessons to bidders.

Navratilova was a guest at the Pam Shriver Silver Tennis Ball in Maryland and was so moved by the cystic fibrosis fundraiser she jumped onstage and grabbed the microphone to auction off one-on-one court sessions.

Navratilova's spontaneous gesture proved successful after a generous guest instantly pledged $15,000 - and she was pleased to help out the cause.

She tells TMZ.com, "I was happy to support Pam at her charity event last night. In these economically tough times, I know how much every dollar counts."
