OSAKA, Japan -- Shahar Peer of Israel and Japan's Kimiko Date Krumm were among the second-round winners Thursday at the HP Open.

The third-seeded Peer rallied from a set down to earn a 3-6, 6-1, 6-3 victory over Japanese wild card Ryoko Fuda, while the sixth-seeded Date Krumm cruised to a 6-2, 6-0 rout of countrymate Aiko Nakamura.

Also winning Thursday were seventh-seeded Iveta Benesova of the Czech Republic and American Jill Craybas. Benesova notched a 6-1, 7-5 triumph over Italy's Alberta Brianti and Craybas thumped Olga Savchuk of the Ukraine, 6-1, 6-1.

Peer has reached her second straight quarterfinal, having advanced to the semifinals of the China Open last week before bowing out to eventual champion and current world No. 1 Caroline Wozniacki. The 13th-ranked Peer has just one appearance in a final this year, losing to Alona Bondarenko at the Australian Open tuneup in Hobart way back in January.

Next up for Peer will be Benesova, who won the Moroccan Grand Prix back in May for her second career WTA title.

Date Krumm will face top-seeded Samantha Stosur of Australia in Friday's quarterfinals. The Japanese veteran will play in a quarterfinal for just the third time this year and lost her previous two -- in Seoul last month and in Auckland back in January.

Craybas, who suffered first-round losses in 11 of her first 12 events of 2010, has reached a quarterfinal for just the second time this year. She lost to Julia Goerges in Palermo back in July and will have to take on second-seeded Marion Bartoli of France on Friday.

Friday's remaining quarterfinal match will pit Thailand's Tamarine Tanasugarn against Taiwan's Kai-Chen Chang.

The winner of this tournament will collect $37,000.
