LINZ, Austria -- Former champions Daniela Hantuchova and Ana Ivanovic were easy opening-round winners Wednesday at the $220,000 Generali Ladies Linz tennis event.

The second-seeded 2007 Linz titlist Hantuchova leveled Ukrainian Kateryna Bondarenko 6-1, 6-2, while the seventh-seeded 2008 champion Ivanovic whipped Romanian lucky-loser Sorana Cirstea 6-2, 6-0 on the indoor hardcourts at Intersport Arena. The Serbian Ivanovic is a former world No. 1 and former French Open champ.

Hantuchova will meet Spaniard Carla Suarez Navarro, while Ivanovic will take on Czech Barbora Zahlavova Strycova here on Thursday.

Last year's Linz runner-up, Czech Petra Kvitova, reached the second round with a 6-2, 1-0 victory over Aussie Anastasia Rodionova, who retired in the second set due to a left adductor strain. The fifth-seeded Kvitova was unable to best Belgian Yanina Wickmayer in last year's finale here.

In second-round action on Day 3, sixth-seeded German Andrea Petkovic clobbered Brit Anne Keothavong 6-0, 6-3, ninth-seeded Italian Sara Errani erased Czech qualifier Renata Voracova 6-2, 6-2, and Italy's Roberta Vinci vaulted past Swede Sofia Arvidsson 6-4, 6-2. Errani and Vinci will square off in an all- Italian quarterfinal here on Friday.

The 2010 Linz champion will earn $37,000.
