QUEBEC CITY -- Tamira Paszek won a three-set thriller over Bethanie Mattek-Sands to win the $220,000 Bell Challenge women's tennis tournament.

Paszek needed 2 hours, 47 minutes to top the American Mattek-Sands 7-6 (8-6), 2-6, 7-5 and win her second career title. The 19-year-old was making her third appearance in a WTA Tour final, having previously won at Portoroz in 2006 and finishing second at Bali in 2008.

"It's overwhelming," said Paszek. "I'm extremely happy. Anytime you win a tournament for the first time it's very special. This is something I'll remember the rest of my life."

Mattek-Sands was making her second career final appearance, having also finished as the runner-up here in 2008. It was the first meeting between the two players.

"This is my best tournament," Mattek-Sands said. "When I made the final here again I really wanted to get my picture up on the champion's wall. Tamira is a tough player. She was injured for a little bit but obviously playing qualifying here and making it all the way to the final, she has been playing really well."

Paszek collected $37,000 for her win, while Mattek-Sands took home $19,000.
