QUEBEC CITY, QC - Bethanie Mattek-Sands beat third-seeded Czech Lucie Safarova 6-2, 6-1 in the semifinals Saturday at the $220,000 Bell Challenge women's tennis tournament.

Mattek-Sands needed just over 54 minutes to oust last year's runner-up in this event. The American was a finalist here in 2008, which represents her only other appearance in a WTA Tour singles final.

Mattek-Sands will face Austrian Tamira Paszek on Sunday after she beat American and fellow teenager Christina McHale 6-2, 6-2.

Paszek, 19, will be appearing in her third career WTA Tour final. She was the champion at Portoroz in 2006 and a runner-up at Bali in 2008.

The 18-year-old McHale played in her first semifinal at the Tour level.

It's the first meeting between Mattek-Sands and Paszek.

The 2010 Bell Challenge champion will collect $37,000.
