With only a few hours break after the quarter-finals took more than a day to sort out, the Rogers Cup resumes Friday.

No. 5 Jelena seed Jankovic became the last of eight singles players to make it, settling a 1-6, 6-3, 7-5 win over feel-good story Kim Clijsters that ended after 1 a.m., following a rain-delayed program of tennis on Thursday at Rexall Centre in Toronto.

Jankovic, who won the Cincinnati Open on Sunday, had her hands full with new mom Clijsters, in just her second event since ending a two-year retirement to give birth to a daughter in February of 2008. The 26-year-old Belgian Clijsters scored four break points off Jankovic.

With the Rexall Centre area still under threat of rain today, Samantha Stosur of Austrialia starts action against fourth-seeded Elena Dementieva of Russia. Maria Sharapova, who hadn't survived two rounds of the Rogers in two other visits, is up against Poland's Agnieskza Radwanska, the 14th seed.

After a full day's rest, Jankovic plays Alisa Kleybanova tonight. American Serena Williams, highest surviving seed at No. 2, will take on Czech underdog Lucie Safarova in the afternoon.
