FLUSHING MEADOWS, NY - Former world No. 1 Ana Ivanovic was an easy second-round winner Thursday at the 2012 U.S. Open.

The 12th seed from Serbia blew past Swedish veteran Sofia Arvidsson 6-2, 6-2 in 64 minutes in the first match on Day 4 at Ashe Stadium.

The 24-year-old Ivanovic is a three-time Grand Slam finalist and captured Roland Garros back in 2008.

Meanwhile, 13th-seeded diminutive Slovak Dominika Cibulkova snuck past capable Serb Bojana Jovanovski 7-6 (7-3), 7-6 (7-3) and 14th-seeded Russian Maria Kirilenko cruised past Hungarian Greta Arn 6-3, 6-2. The Olympic bronze medal runner-up Kirilenko was last week's New Haven runner-up to Czech star Petra Kvitova.

Also on Thursday, 30th-seeded former world No. 1 Jelena Jankovic handled Spaniard Lara Arruabarrena-Vecino 6-4, 6-2. The Serbian Jankovic was the 2008 U.S. Open runner-up.

Thursday's schedule also includes matches for second-seeded Wimbledon runner- up Agnieszka Radwanska, fourth-seeded three-time U.S. Open champion Serena Williams and unseeded two-time New York titlist Venus Williams, who should have her hands full with sixth-seeded German left-hander Angelique Kerber. Serena beat Radwanska in the Wimbledon final in July and also captured an Olympic gold medal at the All England Club earlier this month.
