Aleksandra Wozniak of Blainville, Que., was named Tennis Canada's female player of the year Tuesday.

It was the fifth time Wozniak, currently ranked 43rd in the world, has won the award but first since 2009. She battled injuries the previous two years, when Rebecca Marino got the nod from Tennis Canada.

"I had a great season this year, with many highlights including my first-ever Olympic Games and of course being able to reach the quarters at Rogers Cup in front of such supportive hometown fans," Wozniak said. "I'm happy to be back in the top 50, but I'm already looking forward to having a great year in 2013 and I hope I can grow further."

Marie-Eve Pelletier of Repentigny, Que., was named female doubles player of the year while Eugenie Bouchard of Westmount, Que., won the junior player of the year award. Bouchard won the junior Wimbledon title to become the first Canadian to win a Grand Slam at any level.
