Young is now a dismal 1-18 in his last 19 matches on tour.

Fourteenth-seeded Argentine David Nalbandian handled Dutchman Robin Haase 6-2, 6-4, while 16th-seeded Finnish veteran Jarkko Nieminen erased German qualifier Benjamin Becker 6-3, 6-3 and will meet Berdych in the round of 16.
