Agassi-Sampras, McEnroe-Lendl rekindle past
By Sports Network

NEW YORK - Madison Square Garden hosted four tennis legends on Monday night, as John McEnroe faced off against Ivan Lendl and Andre Agassi took on Pete Sampras in an exhibition event.

McEnroe looked like the player of old before the pain from a twisted ankle suffered prior to the one-set, first-to-eight event took hold. He retired with a 6-3 lead. McEnroe twisted the ankle practicing with Sampras before the match, but toughed it out as long as he could.

Agassi and Sampras played a best-of-three exhibition with Sampras taking a 6-3, 7-5 decision. It was a rematch of Sampras' final match when he beat Agassi in the 2002 U.S. Open final.

The matches were part of the BNP Paribas Showdown, which featured the four tennis greats with 37 combined Grand Slam titles.

Do you think it's a good idea for the U.S. Open to hold the men's final on a Monday?
