Clijsters expects to play at Roland Garros
By SPORTS NETWORK

BRUSSELS, Belgium -- Sidelined with injuries for the last month, former world No. 1 Kim Clijsters expects to play at the upcoming French Open, which will commence May 22 in Paris.

Clijsters is recovering well from ankle, shoulder and wrist injuries and a spokesman for the Belgian star said "everything is on schedule regarding training and recovery."

The reigning Australian and U.S. Open champion has been out of action since early last month and just returned to the practice courts last week.

The 27-year-old Clijsters has never won the French Open, where she is a two-time runner-up (2001, 2003). Because of injuries and retirement at one point, the three-time U.S. Open winner hasn't played at Roland Garros since reaching the semifinals there in 2006.

Do you think it's a good idea for the U.S. Open to hold the men's final on a Monday?
