Marie-Eve Pelletier has been added to the Canadian team for the Fed Cup competition in Brazil later this month.

Pelletier, a 29-year-old from Repentigny, Que., replaces Vancouver's Rebecca Marino, who withdrew from the Fed Cup event due to "personal family matters", according to a release from Tennis Canada.

A veteran of Fed Cup play, Pelletier has represented Canada 28 times and has a record of 22-13. She is ranked 322nd in the WTA singles rankings and 120th in doubles.

In Brazil, Canada will play Argentina, the Bahamas, Bolivia, Colombia, Paraguay, Peru, Venezuela and the host country at the Americas Group I zonal event. The winner of each four-team group will meet for the right to play in the World Group II playoff tie in April.
