Eugenie Bouchard is off to the Round of 16 at the Australian Open.

The 19-year-old from Westmount, Que., defeated U.S. opponent Lauren Davis, 6-2, 6-2, Friday in a quick and tidy 70 minutes.

Bouchard is the first Canadian woman to get this far in Australian since Maureen Drake did it in 1999.

She next faces Casey Dellacqua of Australia for a shot at the quarterfinals.
