Canadian in Aussie Open final
By QMI Agency

Canadian Filip Peliwo advanced to the junior boys singles final Saturday at the Australian Open in Melbourne.

Peliwo, ranked No. 7 on the ITF junior rankings, defeated American Mackenzie McDonald 6-4, 6-4 in a semifinal Friday. The 17-year-old Vancouver native will attempt to become the first Canadian to win a junior Grand Slam singles title when he plays world No. 1 Luke Saville of Australia in the championship match.

Peliwo became the first Canadian since Philip Bester and Peter Polansky in 2006 to reach a junior Grand Slam singles final.
