Two Canucks in junior Aussie Open semis

Two Canadians advanced to the semifinals of the junior Australian Open Thursday in Melbourne.

Eugenie Bouchard of Westmount, Que., beat Risa Ozaki of Japan 6-4, 6-3 to make it into the Aussie Open semifinals for the second straight year. Bouchard, ranked third in the world and seeded second in the Grand Slam tournament, will play fourth-seeded Yulia Putintseva of Russia in the semifinals.

Vancouver's Filip Peliwo downed Joshua Ward-Hibbert of Great Britain 6-3, 6-2 to make it to the semifinals. Ranked seventh in the world junior rankings, Peliwo will play American Mackenzie McDonald in the semis.
