If this is superstar Roger Federer's final hurrah in Toronto, he is making it special — and making it count.

The Swiss great reminded a capacity crowd at the Rexall Centre what they may soon be missing on his way to beating unseeded Feliciano Lopez of Spain, 6-3, 6-4, in their Rogers Cup semifinal on Saturday.

Federer will play for his third title at Canada's Masters 1000 series event on Sunday, against Frenchman Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, in what could be his final competitive match in this city.

Federer was not in Toronto two years ago, citing potential burnout as his reason for withdrawing from that tournament. He had been competing at the London Olympics a week earlier, where he won silver.

The 2016 Summer Games in Rio are scheduled for Aug. 5 to 21 and Tennis Canada is currently working with ATP officials to establish a more player-friendly date for the Canadian event.
