Days away from competing in his hometown tournament, the Rogers Cup, Milos Raonic is taking care of business south of the border.

The ATP's No. 7 seed advanced to the Citi Open semifinals by defeating 68th-ranked American Steve Johnson in straight sets, 7-6 (2), 6-2 in Washington, D.C. on Friday.

Over the course of the two hour quarterfinal match, Raonic recorded 16 aces to Johnson's 13. Both double-faulted twice.

Raonic will face another American, Donald Young (73rd), in a semifinal match on Saturday.

The 23-year-old Thornhill, Ont., native is preparing to compete in Toronto's Rogers Cup next week.
