Canadian tennis star Milos Raonic cruised to a second-round win at the Italian Open on Tuesday.

The Thornhill, Ont., native defeated Italy's Simone Bolelli, 6-3, 7-6 (5) en route to a date in the third round.

Raonic's trademark serve was in fine form on the clay surface. The 23-year-old, who is No. 10 on the ATP rankings and the eighth seed at this week's French Open tuneup, managed 18 aces to Bolelli's three.

The straight-sets match took 1:39 to complete.

Raonic's third-round opponent is to be determined. It will either be South African Kevin Anderson or the tournament's 11th seed, Jo-Wilfried Tsonga.
