Milos Raonic reached a new career high on the ATP Tour Monday after his quarterfinal appearance at the Monte Carlo Masters last week.

The native of Thornhill, Ont. moved up one spot to No. 9, the highest position ever held by a Canadian since computer rankings began in 1973.

Raonic lost to the eventual winner of the event, Stanislas Wawrinka of Switzerland.

Other ranked Canadians include Vasek Pospisil, who remains 29th; Peter Polansky and Frank Dancevic occupy the 137th and 139th rankings respectively.

Meanwhile, Canada's top female player Eugenie Bouchard remained 18th in the WTA's rankings.
