Milos Raonic reached the quarterfinals of the Monte Carlo Masters on Thursday after making quick work of Tommy Robredo.

The No. 8-seeded Raonic didn't face a break point while needing just one hour and 12 minutes to earn the victory, 6-4, 6-3, over the No. 11 from Spain.

"I'm very pleased with myself," Raonic told the ATP website. "I showed a lot of discipline. I struggled in the beginning and was able to figure it out toward the end of that set."

The native of Thornhill, Ont., will now face world No. 3 Stanislas Wawrinka of Switzerland.

"Against Stan I've struggled in the past, but I think it's different this time around," said Raonic. "I feel like I'm doing a lot of things well and I'm looking forward to that challenge."

Meanwhile, fellow Canadian Daniel Nestor and his doubles parter Nenad Zimonjic of Serbia defeated Poland's Mariusz Fyrstenberg and Marcin Matkowski 6-7(6), 7-6(3), 10-7 in a hard-fought battle.

The Toronto native and his partner will face wild cards Romain Arneodo and Benjamin Balleret after the pair from Monaco eliminated Spain's Roberto Bautista Agut and Italy's Andreas Seppi.
