For the fifth straight time, Milos Raonic has won a quarterfinal match.

The world No. 11 men’s singles player defeated Lukas Lacko of Slovakia Friday 6-3, 6-3 at the Japan Open. It was Raonic’s 40th match victory of the season and improves his quarterfinal record to 5-0.

Known for his powerful serve, Raonic managed 11 aces on Lacko. The match, held in Tokyo, took only 62 minutes to complete.

Raonic, a 22-year-old from Thornhill, Ont., will meet Croatia’s Ivan Dodig Saturday (11 p.m. EST Friday) in the semifinals. Dodig and Raonic have met only three times over their careers, with Dodig winning twice.

Raonic, who was downed in last year’s Japan Open final, claimed his fifth ATP tournament win last week when he was crowned Thailand Open champion.
