Milos Raonic was ousted from the Western and Southern Open, and with him went Canada’s last hope in the tournament.

The world No. 10 from Thornhill, Ont., was upset by hard-hitting American John Isner, 7-6 (5), 6-4, Thursday in Cincinnati.

Raonic broke Isner early in the second set, but the American came back with two breaks of his own to gain the edge. Isner also recorded 13 aces against four by Raonic. He also improved his record against the 22-year-old to 2-0.

Isner moves on to play world No. 1 Novak Djokovic of Yugoslavia in the quarterfinals.
