MONTREAL - Welcome back to Canada, Jesse Levine.

The Florida-based pro, who recently took out Canadian citizenship after spending half of his life in the United States, advanced to the second round of the $3.5 million Rogers Cup in thrilling fashion.

Levine, an Ottawa-born 25-year-old, upset Xavier Malisse of Belgium 6-4, 7-6 (4) to earn a second-round matchup against the former world No. 1, Spaniard Rafael Nadal, in Montreal.

Levine, riding the momentum of his break in the third game, took the first set against Malisse, his good friend and training partner.
