Milos Raonic ends season ranked No. 13
By QMI Agency
Canadian Milos Raonic, despite a rather ordinary performance last week in Paris, climbed one position to a career-best 13th in the ATP rankings released Monday.
The 6-foot-5 Raonic finishes the season with 2,380 points, just 135 points back of 10th. However, the 21-year-old will have to start strongly in 2013 to defend his position. Last year, he won two events during the first two months -- Chennai and San Jose, each worth 250 points -- and reached the final in Memphis, worth 300 points.
Novak Djokovic has wrapped up the No. 1 spot with 11,420 points, 1,955 ahead of Roger Federer.
Raonic's season ended with a third-round loss to Sam Querrey last week at the Paris Masters.
Other ranked Canadians included: Vasek Pospisil, 125th; Frank Dancevic, 137th; and Peter Polansky, 168th.
In the WTA rankings, Canadian Eugenie Bouchard jumped 16 spots to No. 144 with her win at the Tevlin Challenge in Toronto on Sunday. Aleksandra Wozniak remained the highest-ranked Canadian at No. 43. Others included: Stephanie Dubois, 135th; Heidi El Tabakh, 155th; and Sharon Fichman, 165th.
