HALLE, GERMANY - Canadian star Milos Raonic and former champion Tomas Berdych were among Wednesday's second-round winners at the $835,000 Gerry Weber Open, a grass-court Wimbledon tuneup.

A fifth-seeded Raonic routed helpless Chinese qualifier Ze Zhang 6-1, 6-1 while The third-seeded Berdych blew past Serbian Viktor Troicki 6-3, 6-2 at Gerry Weber Stadium.

Berdych was the Gerry Weber titlist in 2007 and runner-up in 2006.

A mild Day-3 upset came when former top-10 star Mikhail Youzhny of Russia upended fourth-seeded Alexandr Dolgopolov of Ukraine 6-4, 3-6, 6-3.

One other result saw Berdych's fellow Czech Radek Stepanek handle German Cedric-Marcel Stebe 6-4, 6-4. Stepanek will tangle with Youzhny in Friday's quarterfinals.

Top seeds Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer will play their second-round matches on Thursday. The former top-ranked Nadal will take on Slovak Lukas Lacko, while the former No. 1 Federer will encounter Germany's own Florian Mayer.

Nadal is fresh off his third straight and record-setting seventh overall French Open title. Federer is a five-time champion here and former runner-up in Halle, where a street has been named after the Swiss icon.

The 2012 Halle champ will collect $150,000.
