Canadian Milos Raonic defeated Igor Andreev of Russia 6-4 6-1 Wednesday in a second-round match at the Barcelona Open tennis tournament.

Raonic, the 11th seed, did not face a single break point against 82nd-ranked Andreev.

"I feel my level improved a lot between my first match and this one," Raonic said. "I'm hitting the ball better and feeling well on the court.

"I've not looked ahead to the next match but I will. I like the way my game is feeling on clay and I think I have my chances here. If I can just keep trying to get better and better I'm sure I can do well."

Next up for the 21-year-old from Thornhill, Ont., is No. 6 seed Nicolas Almagro, a clay court specialist.

Rafa Nadal, seeking his seventh Conde de Godo trophy in eight years, also advanced to the third round with a 6-1, 6-2 win over Guillermo Garcia-Lopez.
