HALLE, Germany -- It seems Canadian Milos Raonic much prefers grass to clay.
Playing in a Wimbledon warmup, Raonic disposed of Spaniard Pablo Andujar 6-3, 6-1 Tuesday in the first round of the Gerry Weber Open on grass in Halle, Germany.
Raonic, 20, a native of Thornhill, Ont., had 12 aces and needed only 66 minutes to defeat the Spaniard.
It was a turnaround from Raonic's previous three tournaments, all played on clay in Madrid, Rome and Roland Garros, and all early exits.
In the second round, the eighth-seeded Raonic will face Germany's Tobias Kamke.
Other seeded players to win first-round matches at Halle included Viktor Troicki, Florian Mayer and Philipp Petzschner.
