Nadal, Federer cruise to fourth round in Miami
By Sports Network

Miami, FL - Top-seeded Rafael Nadal and third-seeded Roger Federer both won third-round matches on Monday at the $4.5 million Sony Ericsson Open.

Nadal had no problems with fellow Spaniard Feliciano Lopez in a 6-3, 6-3 victory. Nadal topped Japan's Kei Nishikori in the second round while Lopez had defeated 26th-seed Juan Ignacio Chela to face Nadal.

At Indian Wells, Nadal played for the first time since the Australian Open (he missed some time with a left thigh injury) and made it to the final, losing to Novak Djokovic in three sets. Up next for Nadal will be the winner of the Jo- Wilfried Tsonga/Alexandr Dolgopolov match.

Federer had a little trouble in the first set, but took that and easily won the second set in a 7-6 (7-4), 6-4 victory over Juan Monaco of Argentina. It was the 763rd win of Federer's career, moving him past Pete Sampras for seventh on the all-time list.

Federer's fourth-round opponent will be Olivier Rochus, who rallied to take down 13th-seeded Mikhail Youzhny 1-6, 6-3, 6-3.

Seventh-seeded Tomas Berdych of the Czech Republic had two long sets, but won both in 7-6 (10-8), 7-5 fashion to take down Carlos Berlocq of Argentina.

The upset of the day saw Florian Mayer of Germany take down 11th seeded Nicolas Almagro of Spain 6-1, 3-6, 6-1.

Berdych and Mayer will face each other next.

A battle of unseeded players saw Janko Tipsarevic of Serbia slip past Germany's Philipp Petzschner 6-3, 6-3.

The 2011 Miami champion will collect $611,000.
