ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates -- World No. 1 tennis superstar Rafael Nadal has been named the Laureus World Sportsman of the Year.
The Spanish Nadal captured three quarters of last year's Grand Slam tournaments, winning at the French Open, Wimbledon and U.S. Open.
American skier Lindsay Vonn also won a Laureus World Sports Award as the top female athlete.
Winners are selected by 46 sports stars who comprise the Laureus Sports Academy.
