MOSCOW -- Fourth-seeded Cypriot Marcos Baghdatis highlighted Friday's quarterfinal winners at the $1.08 million Kremlin Cup.

The former Australian Open runner-up Baghdatis, the only seed still standing this week, handled rising Ukrainian Alexandr Dolgopolov 6-2, 7-6 (9-7) on the indoor hardcourts at Olympic Stadium.

Baghdatis' semifinal opponent on Saturday will be Uzbekistanian Denis Istomin, who popped 10 aces in tripping up 2008 Moscow titlist Igor Kunitsyn, of Russia, 6-2, 6-4. Kunitsyn, a qualifier this week, upset former star Marat Safin in an all-Russian final here two years ago.

Russians had won six straight and 11 of the last 13 titles here, but there are no Russians left in the draw heading into this weekend.

A Friday upset occurred when Uruguay's Pablo Cuevas cut down fifth-seeded Czech Radek Stepanek 6-4, 7-6 (7-3). Up next for Cuevas will be Serbian Viktor Troicki, who reached his fourth ATP semifinal of the year with a 6-2, 6-1 pasting of Argentine Horacio Zeballos.

The 2010 Kremlin Cup champion will earn $181,750.
