KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia -- French Open runner-up Robin Soderling and Wimbledon finalist Tomas Berdych were a pair of second-round winners Thursday at the Malaysian Open tennis event.

The top-seeded world No. 5 Soderling dismantled helpless Frenchman Edouard Roger-Vasselin 6-0, 6-1, while the third-seeded world No. 7 Berdych handled Uzbekistan's Denis Istomin 6-4, 6-3 on the indoor hardcourts at Putra Stadium. Soderling rolled in 62 minutes with the help of six services breaks on Day 4.

Soderling's quarterfinal opponent will be eighth-seeded Andrey Golubev of Kazakhstan, while Berdych will battle fifth-seeded Spaniard David Ferrer on Friday. Ferrer drilled Indian wild card Yuki Bhambri 6-2, 6-2, while Golubev got past South African Kevin Anderson 6-4, 7-6 (7-4).

Friday's other quarters will pit fourth-seeded U.S. Open semifinalist Mikhail Youzhny of Russia against sixth-seeded former Australian Open runner-up Marcos Baghdatis of Cyprus and Canadian qualifier Milos Raonic versus Russian qualifier Igor Andreev.

The winner of this $947,750 event will collect $165,500.
