After a solid first set Friday, Canadian Milos Raonic was knocked out of the Cincinnati Masters by Swiss veteran Stanislas Wawrinka.

Wawrinka, 27, won the quarterfinal match 2-6, 7-6(5), 6-4.

Raonic was ranked a career-high No. 19 in the world coming into the week while Wawrinka was No. 26.

Raonic had A bid edge in aces, 17-8, but the 21-year-old Canadian also had eight double-faults to only two for Wawrinka.

The victory put Wawrinka into the semifinals against the winner of a match Friday night between Roger Federer and Mardy Fish.

Novak Djokovic will play Juan Martin Del Potro in the other semifinal.
