JOHANNESBURG - The Spanish reportedly are unhappy with the unofficiating. And the World Cup final hasn’t even started yet.

According to various reports, the choice of Englishman Howard Webb as referee for the title game against The Netherlands at Soccer City on Sunday is not sitting well with the Spanish, who apparently were not enthralled with the way he handled their tournament-opening 1-0 loss to Switzerland in Durban.

“Bad News - Webb will referee final,” blared a headline in the sports daily Marca.

The publication suggested Webb did not award what appeared to be a clear penalty to David Silva, adding that the Swiss goal by Gelson Fernandes probably was offside.

Webb, for the record, is considered to be one of Europe’s top refs.
