JOHANNESBURG - Canada still has a representative in the World Cup and his work has earned him a place in one of the final two games in the tournament.

Assistant referee Hector Vergara of Winnipeg will work one of the sidelines in the tournament's third-place game Saturday in Port Elizabeth between Uruguay and Germany.

Mexico's Archundia will be the referee.

England's Howard Webb will be the referee in the final between Spain and the Netherlands. Webb was supposed to handle a least one game in the quarterfinals but had the assignment taken away from him.

Rumours persisted that Webb wasn't given a game in the quarterfinals or semifinals because Uruguay was still involved in the tournament. That was because an Uruguayan referee handled the Germany-England game and missed a goal for England.
