Dutch fans running out of orange

JOHANNESBURG -- How do you paint a country orange when it is running out of the colour?
Believe it or not, crazed Dutch fans are snapping up so much orange paraphernalia in preparation for Sunday's World Cup final, stores back in The Netherlands are running out of tangerine-coloured garb.
Wigs, capes, shirts, boas, you name it, they are stripping the shelves of it.
As for those clamouring to get down here to Soccer City in Johannesburg for the title game, various reports Thursday suggested more than 12,000 people signed up for the approximately 1,000 seats put on sale by KLM for the three additional flights the airline added from Amsterdam to Johannesburg on Saturday.
The popularity of the Dutch march to the championship match is reflected in the television ratings for the semifinal tilt between The Netherlands and Uruguay on Tuesday. About 12.5 million of the country's 16.5 million inhabitants tuned in to see the Dutch get by Uruguay 3-2 at Cape Town's Green Point Stadium.
A parade has been planned for Amsterdam on Tuesday, with about two million people expected to migrate into the city.
