Maradona makes surprise addition for Argentina

Argentina coach Diego Maradona is a dreamer.

As a result, a 30-year-old defender who has played once with the Argentine national team, last month against Haiti, will be going to the World Cup.

Ariel Grace, a defender with Colon in the Argentine domestic league, will be heading to South Africa for the World Cup.

Garce was named to the final 23-man roster by Maradona on the weekend.

Maradona is known for his unorthodox way of doing things.

He named Garce over Javier Zanetti Argentina’s 136-cap record holder. Zanetti captained Inter Milan to a Champions League title Saturday against Bayern Munich.

Garce’s surprise selection to the team came as a result of a dream where Maradona’s team was lifting the World Cup but the only face he could remember was Garce’s.

Some would put that down to too many late meals featuring Argentinian churrasco strip steak with chimichurri sauce.

Maradona believes otherwise.

What was the biggest story of the 2010 World Cup in South Africa?
 France, England exiting early
 Uruguay finishing in fourth place
Many stars struggling to find form
Ghana on verge of semifinal berth
 Those darn vuvuzelas!
