MANAUS, Brazil -- A Colombian assistant referee has been dropped at the FIFA World Cup.
Humberto Clavijo, the referee who incorrectly denied Mexico a pair of goals against Cameroon last week, has been replaced for Sunday's South Korea-Algeria match in Porto Alegre.
Ecuador's Christian Lescano will take Clavijo's place on Wilmar Roldan's four-man officiating team.
Although Mexico eventually won the match against their Central African opponent, goal-differential is the first tie-breaker should teams end up level on points after three group games.
In other news Friday, Argentine referee Nestor Pitana was assigned to Sunday's U.S.-Portugal here in Manaus.
It's unclear if Canadian assistant referee Joe Fletcher will get another game after his four-man team performed well in two prior outings.
