Steve Nash is squeezing an appearance at the Vancouver Whitecaps’ Major League Soccer debut between NBA game days.
Nash and the Phoenix Suns host the Golden State Warriors March 18 and visit the L.A. Clippers March 20. The Whitecaps’ co-owner will be at Empire Field March 19 for the ceremonial kickoff against Toronto FC in the first MLS match between two Canadian teams.
Nash will also help launch the Whitecaps’ new club anthem. In 1978, members of the original North American Soccer League Whitecaps recorded “White is the Colour,” a cover of Chelsea’s 1972 “Blue is the Colour.”
The 'Caps announced the signing of Swiss midfielder Davide Chiumiento Tuesday and Korean automaker Kia coming on as the latest sponsor.
