Sporting Kansas City is what Toronto FC is to the Columbus Crew.

The Reds, unbeaten in three games against Columbus following Saturday night’s win, have yet to put in a complete performance against the top team in the Eastern Conference, the squad TFC travels to play next weekend at Sporting Park.

It took head coach Ryan Nelsen’s bunch half a season to show its playoff quality.

Now, the Reds have yet another chance to prove their a threat in the East.

“We know we can get a lot better,” Nelsen said late Saturday night. “We’re just trying to evolve. We’re going to do it right. We got three wins against a very tough team.”

They haven’t topped the reigning MLS champs in four consecutive meetings.

Considering K.C. is a club the Reds will very likely meet come the post-season, all eyes will be on a fixture Nelsen labeled earlier this year as a precursor to a post-season showdown.
