No Michael Bradley, no problem for Toronto FC.

For one game at least.

Minus its World Cup-bound star, as well as starting goalkeeper Julio Cesar, Toronto moved to .500, thanks to a pretty goal from its other standout, Jermain Defoe and a bonus from newcomer Luke Moore in stoppage time in a 2-0 win over the New York Red Bulls.

The victory snapped New York’s 10-game unbeaten streak (7-3-0) against the Reds, which dated back to 2009.

Defoe, who was unhappy about only being named to England’s taxi squad — meaning it is unlikely he’ll be on the team in Brazil — barring an injury or two, looked like a man on a mission early.
