A Major League Soccer announcer took a shot at Toronto Mayor Rob Ford over the weekend after Real Salt Lake scored its second first-half goal in a 3-0 win over visiting Toronto FC.

Brian Dunseth, a former MLSer who now calls games locally in Utah, referenced Ford's weight issues after Salt Lake's Luis Gil scored midway through the first half Saturday night.

"Like Rob Ford at a buffet, it's a simple finish," Dunseth said, referring the way Gil finished off the play to double the home team's lead.

"Did you just reference the Toronto mayor?" his play-by-play analyst asked.

In case viewers missed it the first time, Dunseth reiterated his point during post-game highlights as he repeated his original Rob Ford goal call -- something that likely wouldn't have been possible during a nationally televised game on TSN or Sportsnet.

Despite the 3-0 loss, TFC is off to its best start in club history (2-1-0) sitting on six points four weeks into the 2014 season.

The club has never made Major League Soccer's post-season.

They've still never won at Utah's Rio Tinto Stadium.

Toronto's embattled mayor is currently embroiled in a number of controversies -- including a crack-smoking scandal -- in an election year. The 44-year-old is attempting to earn re-election amid slumping poll numbers.

Torontonians will head to the polls in October.
