It’s playoffs or bust – again – for Toronto FC.

Only this time it’s different.

Head coach Ryan Nelsen has retooled and reshaped his Reds, who came up small in 2013 when they finished inside the bottom three on just 29 points.

Since then, the club has opened its purse, dishing out millions for three key players – Gilberto, Jermain Defoe and Michael Bradley – who will need to live up to their paycheques if the Reds are to finally earn a postseason berth.

Unfortunately, TFC fans will have to wait an extra weekend.

Toronto won’t be involved in Major League Soccer’s opening day on Saturday as they prepare for a Matchday 2 trip to Seattle.

In the meantime, here’s an MLS primer to whet your whistle.
