Toronto FC selected Nick Hagglund, a centre back out of Xavier, in Thursday’s MLS SuperDraft.
Occupying the No. 15 pick, the Reds traded up to the No. 10 spot, swapping picks with the Philadelphia Union in exchange for allocation cash.
Hagglund, a 6-foot-1, 190-pound defender told the Toronto Sun shortly after being selected that he thought he might go in the second round of Thursday’s draft and that the club’s confidence in taking him inside the top 10 is overwhelming.
